Nichelino Hesperia

The Nichelino Hesperia association was born in the Castello district to respond mainly to the needs of the people of the very young and populous district, born in the eighties. In 1986 in the aforementioned district a spontaneous committee was born that asked for the construction of primary and secondary services, still non-existent, despite the fact that the population was already over 8000 inhabitants. The first things that were built were the public transport line of 35 and the Madonna Della Fiducia Church, not the current one, but a wooden shack located in the current Via Spadolini, right on the corner where we then had our first headquarters, at no. 6. From 1987 onwards, up to the early 90s, the Castello District committee, which is a widespread representation of all the people of the district, in collaboration with the parish, among the various initiatives, embarked on a path of support for the needs of young people of the district, in particular in the realization of periods (spring - summer) of sporting activities, which involved about 700 children aged 6 to 16, all strictly resident in the Castello district. Since those years, the need to create an autonomous structure from the neighborhood committee was clear. So in 1990 in the Castello District two sports groups were born, without going into the merits of why, two rather than one, after a few years the reality of G.S. Castello, in which Francesco Tripodi held the role of vice president. Francesco Tripodi was thus able to express all his vocative talent for sporting activities, in particular for football, until, in the G.S. Castello lacked the conditions of trust and unity of purpose between the members of the board of directors and the president of the association. At that point, it was the month of May 1996 Francesco Tripodi, Raffaele Terlizzi and other members of the board of directors of the G.S. Castello, decided to give rise to a new sports association, with the scruple of providing it with a democratic and pluralist statutory body, just like the Castello District Committee was governed. In early May, on the occasion of the youth running event aimed at school users, organized by the G.S. Atletica Nichelino, in which Mario Filiziu, former organizer of the sports activities of the Castello District committee, served as manager, Francesco Tripodi shows up at the event in the Nichelino grove, and proposes to Filiziu to join the nascent association. after about two hours of discussion and clarification on the shipwreck of the G. S. Castello, Mario Filiziu decides to join the new project. Thus begins a constituent period, which on May 27, 1996 formalizes the birth of the Polisportiva Castello Hesperia and in the summer months, June, July and August, the training phase of the group of founding members is completed, which stabilizes with the number of 42 members. In order to become a founding member it was necessary to subscribe a quota of 100,000 lire in favor of the association. For the next two years, the 42 founding members were also full members of the board of directors. The first president of the association was Mario Filiziu, vice presidents, Edoardo Calabrò and Giovanni Calabrese, while Francesco Tripodi, by his choice, accepted the position of organizational manager. In the second term, after two years, Mario Filiziu was confirmed president, while Francesco Tripodi was elected vice president. In 2000, Mario Filiziu, for family reasons, no longer gave his willingness to hold the office of president, a position which was then unanimously conferred on Francesco Tripodi.
